Location: Prestbury, Cheshire
Area: 4,200 sq ft
As architects on this new build house, set in the exclusive Cheshire village of Prestbury, we utilised part of the footprint of the original single-storey house as the starting point with certain elements being chosen to articulate the design and to emphasise the function. The projecting floor to ceiling lead-clad dormer to the master bedroom was used to emphasis the view across the valley to Lyme Handley, and the over-sailing first floor to signal the way to, and to protect the arrival at the main entrance. The full height of the roof was used in the single-storey kitchen / dining space to create a stunning area linked to the garden with large glazed doors.
